Temperate grassland animals list. Omnivores such as badgers also thrive in this biome. These smaller species either feed on the grass vegetation or other smaller animals. Temperate grasslands were one of the greatest biomes in the natural fauna.
In the wild they often roam in herds or groups often with several mares and one stallion. Apart from grazers and predators the temperate grasslands are also home to small animal species. The grasslands of Earth are full of unique and interesting plant life.
Temperate grasslands are home to many large herbivores. In temperate grassland biomes they are a variety of great hunters which include coyotes bobcats gray wolf etc. Oaks also produce fruits known as acorn.
Some of these include bison gazelles zebras rhinoceroses and wild horses. Some of the Animals include North American Bison Pronghorn Antelope Pocket Gopher Ground Squirrels Prairie Dog Coyote Badger and Black-Footed Ferret. These animals include mice rabbits weasels and also snakes.
Carnivores like lions and wolves are included. Foxtail or Hordeum jubatum are given its name. The natural carnivores like lions wolves cheetahs leopards coyotes red-tailed hawks owls and opossums are also found in temperate grasslands and prey on big and small animals.
These include cheetahs elephants prairie dogs tigers brown bears jackals foxes bobcats weasels etc. The federal environment minister listed the Natural Temperate Grassland and the Grassy Eucalypt Woodland of the VVP as critically endangered ecological communities in June 2008 and June 2009 respectively. A variety of animals live in the grasslands.
